A technika új csodája: a globális helymeghatározás
László Pap, engineer, addresses a revolutionary invention within the field of geographical positioning. The Global Position System, developed at the end of the 20th century, is capable of executing traditional positioning tasks as well as solving a large number of new problems. Pap demonstrates the mathematical and physical methods employed to calculate geographical positions. The lecture acquaints the audience with the operational principles and technical implementations of GPS systems, including the components of the satellite infrastructure and the ways of communication between satellites and the GPS receiver. A wide range of possible applications are illustrated; examples are given from the fields of geodsy and transportation as well as leisure purposes.
