Forradalom a gyógyszerkutatásban

In his lecture, Árpád Furka, professor of chemistry, describes the birth of a new branch of science. Furka has developed a simple synthetic solid phase method called the split-mix procedure, which makes it possible to prepare millions of compounds in a couple of days. The synthesized compounds include all of the structural variants that can be theoretically deduced from the structures of the starting materials. After the split-mix procedure's publication, application of the method spread quickly, and brought about a revolution in drug discovery. This led to the foundation of a new branch of science: combinatorial chemistry.
